2010 Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups
December 2, 2010 by TJ
Week 13 is upon us and some steals are to be had on the waiver wire. Take a look at who could be available to help your lineup this week. The players recommended should be available in roughly 50% or more fantasy leagues. Here are our top 3 (or so) free agent quarterback, running back and wide receiver pickups for the week:
Quarterback
- Sam Bradford (StL) – If you haven’t bought into the hype, do so! This rookie has had a passer rating of over 100 for 3 games in a row. he had a career high 300+ yards and 3 TDs last week. He is incredible on 3rd down conversion with over 125 attempts. He is better than your current backup probably and/or your starter. Keep him around or plug him in for the playoff push should you need him.
- David Garrard (Jax) – Garrard has played well for most of the year. he doesn’t throw an enormous amount of TDs, but he has 17 to 11 interceptions. He is a consistent fantasy player who delivers what you expect week in and week out.
- Jon Kitna (Dal) – Kitna had a good outing on TurkeyDay. Romo will probably not be back for at least 3 weeks and possibly not at all this year. Expect Kitna to deliver 250 yards and 1-2 TDs a game from here on out.
Running Back
- Brian Westbrook (SF) – If you ever needed help this year at running back, this may be your biggest chance. Frank Gore will miss the remainder of the season with a hip injury. This promotes Brian Westbrook and Anthony Dixon to at least a time share. Westbrook used vary sparingly so far this year responded Monday night with a TD and over 130 yards on the ground. A lot will argue that the Arizona defense was lackluster at best, but still Westbrook is a must add and should be the main guy out of the backfield here on forth.
- Toby Gerhart (Min) – This is more of a one or two week replacement for Adrian Peterson who suffered an ankle injury Sunday. Gerhart should do very well in his absence.
- Anthony Dixon (SF) – This is the other half of the story in the loss of Frank Gore. Dixon who also got a TD along with Westbrook will also get carries including possible goal line touches. And Westbrook having a history of being Mr. Glass may go down leaving only Dixon. So if you missed out on Westbrook, there is a good chance Dixon is still there to keep on your bench or start if you are extremely week at RB.
Wideout/Tight End
- Steve Breaston (Ari) – Still available in almost half of fantasy leagues. yes, the play of QB and the lack of a good run game hurt him, but he has big play ability and good hands on a team that will likely have to throw many passes to stay in games.
- Kenny Britt (Ten) – This could be a sneaky pickup. He may not play this week although he has a chance, but he should be back next week if all goes well. Randy Moss has not done much, so Britt could get back into his groove of finding the ball for scores.
- Nate Washington (ten) – Speaking of Tennessee, should Britt miss more time, Washington has been the big guy in the passing game. If you need help, this could be a great play for a cheap TD and some PPR points.
